My mother has recently discovered that she’s very allergic to gluten. So between that and my dairy + egg allergies, we are becoming quite the allergy-friendly household (Kind of crazy, right? Just try and tell me we don’t have some serious problems with food production that all of our food is making us sick, but let’s not go there right now). It’s particularly put a turn in our family holiday cooking. We can’t make anything we used to and have to find or adapt all new recipes. On the other hand, it’s lots of fun to be branching out. Did you know there is such a thing as teff flour? Fun times.
So for your viewing pleasure, below is the most beautiful gluten-free, vegan, pear cake that ever was. The recipe had a bit of a journey to arrive here: I saw a photo of the cake on The FeedFeed, and headed on over to Taylor Harbin’s blog, All Purpose Flour Child, for the recipe. She had revised it from Cannelle Et Vanille to incorporate pears and fall spices, and I adapted her version to be vegan.
So voila! Four blogs later, holiday cake that quite literally everyone can eat.
